FAQs

What is Flexique™ made of?

Flexique is made of a proprietary blend of edible-grade ingredients, specially-formulated to maximize its pliability, durability and utility.

Is Flexique really edible?

Yes! Flexique is 100% edible. It is basically tasteless (although it has been said to taste like gummy bears!), but you can customize it with any flavoring. You can also add scent and coloring to match your project needs. It can be used on its own, or it can be combined with other edible ingredients like wafer paper and chocolate.

Is Flexique gluten free?

Yes!

How much do I need? How far does one container go?

One container of Flexique results in about 480 square inches of fabric (approx. 1/3 square meter)

      • (6) 8.5"x11" wafer paper sheets
          • (6) 8"x10" edible images
              • the top surface of:
                  • (4) 9"x13" cakes
                  • (6) 11"x7" cakes
                • (8) medium-sized (6-inch across) bows of 2-inch wide ribbon

Is it available outside of the U.S.?

Yes, we ship to many international countries. Please contact us if you happen to get a message that indicates that there are no shipping options.

What if I don’t have a microwave? Can I use my stove to heat it up?

Yes, you can use a stove, double boiler, or fondue pot to prepare the Flexique solution.

What is the working time of Flexique? How long before I have to re-heat it?

The working time varies based on a variety of factors, such as room temperature and how much product you're working with at once. Generally, if you are working with one full single order of Flexique, you can expect to have around 15-20 minutes of working time. That time can be extended if you keep the container in a warm water bath.

What are some ways that I can keep my Flexique Instant Lace project from shrinking as it cures?

There are three main ways that you can help make sure your Flexique Instant Lace project retains its original length/size:

                1. Leave it in the mold for at least 24 hours. This is a great option if you are are making only one copy from your mold, and if you have enough time to do it in advance. If that's not the case, there are more options.

                2. Put it in the freezer for an hour.
Once you've poured your project into the mold and it has begun to set up, place it into the freezer. Do not remove it from the mold. This is the quickest and most convenient way to avoid any shrinking, but it does require space in your freezer.

                3. Add corn starch.
Mix 1 part corn starch with 3 parts heated Flexique Instant Lace. Please note that this process turns the product white, and it makes it stiffer once set. If you don't need clear/translucent lace and don't need to maximize flexibility, this can also be a great way to make your Flexique Instant Lace go farther.
